Learn why one of our clients uses our profiling tool, their results, and what you & your team can learn
As a member of the board, or a senior manager, you will be experiencing challenges in recruitment, team engagement, productivity, and employee effectiveness.
The business leaders we work with, see challenges as opportunities. This is when innovation thrives, and different approaches are tested.
An elephant in the room:
In this article, we are going to address the elephant in the room. There are a multitude of profiling tools on the market, but a select few are always seen as the ‘go-to’ tools for employee engagement.
1900s theory v 21st-century application:
Two years ago, we published an article comparing 1900s theory with 21st-century application.
The context? “If you had the option to buy a mobile phone from the 1980s or one made today, which would you choose?”
Quick, simple, and built by an engineer.
The reason our founder started Perfect Teams, and built our profiling tool, was to cut through the confusion surrounding psychometric testing. We took an engineering approach to Carl Jung’s philosophy and built an instrument for the 21st century. A profiling system with instant results …
The first client we engaged with told us that he valued the speed and simplicity of our application. We didn’t baffle him with psychology.
An organisation supporting students with higher education and career opportunities:
We could tell you about all the benefits of the Perfect Teams application, but we would rather let our clients do the talking for us.
So, below we have outlined:
⚙️ Why one of our clients started using our profiling tool,
🚀 Their results, and…
📈 What you and your team can learn from that
For context, the client is an organisation that supports hundreds of first-generation university students into higher education. They then follow on with finding career opportunities.
When they came to us, as with every team, it was important that they worked together as a cohesive unit. We all know though, that having different personalities and characteristics within your team can cause challenges.
Using an established profiling tool only got them so far:
Using an existing tool, the organisation had gained an awareness of the different personalities in their team, but it didn’t go into enough depth about the individual characteristics of each team member. It was found wanting.
Our approach provided the team with better insights and more understanding:
By using Perfect Teams, the organisation and the leadership team gained deeper, detailed insights about their employees, and a better understanding of where each member’s strengths were.
Our application also meant that the leadership team was able to create and view an easy-to-digest team map. They could instantly see the strengths of the team. More importantly, they could see the gaps they had in their team- which needed to ultimately be filled.
Their existing tool gave the organisation a macro-level understanding of their team. Perfect Teams gave them both the macro and the micro levels of understanding.
Allocating tasks became easier:
The detailed insights from the Perfect Teams tool gave the leadership team the ability to make better decisions, especially when it came to allocating specific tasks.
One of the key tasks that needs allocating is outreach, which involves going into schools and talking to students.
With the Perfect Teams insights, they have been able to identify those best suited for that activity.
For those that may be inclined, but not 100% sure about carrying out that activity, the more detailed insights have provided the leadership team with an understanding of which colleagues to pair together, so that they are able to collectively grow and develop.
Saving time in the recruitment process:
As we have highlighted previously, once you know the kind of people, and characteristics, you are looking for in your recruitment process, the next step is to identify them as early as possible.
Using the detailed insights that the Perfect Teams tool has provided them, the leadership team now has more clarity around their future recruitment plans, because they understand the makeup of their team and the gaps that exist.
What can you and your team learn from this?
1. If you are currently using a profiling tool, how detailed are your insights?
As was the case with this client, you may already be using a profiling tool.
Some of the questions we hope you ask yourself and your leadership team- whether you speak to us or not- are:
“How detailed are the insights we receive from our current tool of choice?”
“How much do we really understand our team members?”
“How can we improve team engagement and productivity?”
Is your current profiling tool based on 1900s theory but lacking 21st-century application?
2. How effective and productive is your team?
Whether you are using another profiling tool or not, it’s important to take a step back and create time to look at the people equation.
This was mentioned in another of our recent articles, where we highlighted that for many business owners, the reality is that they are often caught up in the hamster wheel within the business.
So, take a step back:
- Understand the team you have
- Find out who you are missing (see below)
- Identify the underlying challenges that might be impacting team performance, effectiveness, or productivity
- Discover the hidden talents of different team members
- Develop people and your business
3. Where are the gaps in your team?
Finally, when you understand your team members, their strengths and weaknesses, and their hidden talents, you will also be able to identify the gaps in your team, which will then inform your future recruitment process.
Where are the gaps in your team? What specific characteristics do you need to take your team to the next level?
